Hey everyone!

We’re hosting an AMA all about DeWeb, and we want your questions! Whether you’re new to Massa’s decentralized web or just want to dive deeper, this is your chance to get answers.

Curious about:
:zap: Becoming a provider on DeWeb?
:zap: Hosting your project fully on DeWeb?

  1. What happens if providers are blocked legally?
    – How can we ensure DeWeb remains resilient and more decentralized in the face of such challenges?

  2. Will DeWeb support hosting large-scale projects in the future, like Next.js applications?

  3. Is DeWeb limited to a static structure, or can it be used as an API server?
    – Are there any plans to expand its dynamic back-end capabilities?

  4. When uploading a large website (e.g., 5-10 MB), multiple operations require signing.
    – Will there be improvements such as bulk signing for convenience?

  • is it possible to have a paymaster to support anonymous posting on deWeb? It would be great to create a safe place for whistleblowers to post article on without revealing their identities or linking it to their wallet.
  • Is there a list of all the providers & website published or a sort of wiki?

I think the station should be the center of Massa’s ecosystem, so do we expect manging websites to be directly from Massa station? Aslo MNS being directly integrated and manged from Massa station might be much better

  1. The cost of hosting on the chain it related to Massa value. What will be done to ensure price concitancy and avoid major hosting price fluctuation? I.E. at $0.03/MAS, the cost is minimal, at $1.46/MAS, the cost will be extremely high.
  2. Is Massa planning to make training material and video for Devs on how to migrate dApps and Web2 sites over the DeWeb?
  3. Is hosting a trading bot will cost anything everytime the ASC will be triggered and execute an action (for instance, sending command to an external web2 AI)
  4. Can all .massa domain return a formal web answer such as “Domain parked, etc…”
  5. Can we have the detilled cost breakdown of 5 hosting scenarios.
5.1. Small Personal Blog: 150 files, 25 KB average, total 3.7 MB.
    5.2. Small E-commerce Website: 3,000 files, 200 KB average, total 600 MB.
5.3. Video Streaming Platform: 1,500 files, 50 MB average, total 75 GB.
5.4. Social Media Platform: 500,000 files, 1 MB average, total 500 GB.
5.5. Dating DApp: 50,000 files, 500 KB average, total 25 GB.
  6. Will we offer subsidises pricing for non-profit organisations and free hosting for universities to promote adoption?
  7. Is Massa planning to do a Ted Talk for DeWeb?
  8. Is Massa Academic Paper have been or will be published in academic journals?
  9. Is DeWeb capable of competing web2 cloud hosting like AWS, GCP, Azure?

If obscene or pornographic sites are opened, is there a mechanism to block them?

  1. Access website in local first, Switch to another provider that’s not censored…
How to ensure resilience: local first, no centralized servers, use massa blockchain ?

  2. Large scale projects yes! it just really depends on your data hosting strategy and client framework. 2.5 We’re currently testing some next.js configs to see how to make it work

  3. having a read-only smart contract function that dynamically generates and returns a website from template is an interesting approach to explore. However, for now we stick to static websites since everything can already be achieved through dynamic JS queries from the frontend and simplifies implementation. The only case in which it could be useful would therefore be to create JS-free dynamic backends with POST/GET http emulation, for people paranoid about JS frontend safety. Feel free to propose the idea in the forums if you feel like it !

  4. secret key signing will fix this, coming soon with the new CLI

  1. Post on the forum about it to get community sentiment, pros/cons & feedback
  2. Coming soon end of Q3/beginning of Q4
  1. This is a great proposition, I think it should be posted as a forum topic so we could discuss pro’s and cons:)
  1. Available storage is a finite resource. If the demand for storage is high, the prices would naturally go up. The only issue we can imagine now is that storage price is correlated with MAS that also serves other purposes. If you wish to discuss the creation of a separate token just for storage payment, feel free to propose it in the forums! Also note that with the upcoming service providers, large file storage will also become possible, and at lower cost than on-chain storage
  2. yes! coming asap
  3. maybe ask this to the ASC team ?
  4. Stay tuned for information around the new smart contract standard, or open a topic with a more precise question:)
  • most apps won’t be that heavy. the DeWeb only host application files, not information, so it’s up to you to choose between blockchain storage, databases, (maybe mention storage provider)
  • 100 MAS / Mo + operation fees => we should have an estimation tool up soon
  • community tool Massa Network Storage Calculator
  1. Open a forum topic, this is an interesting proposal
  2. We have some fun events upcoming… be on the look out for more information:)
  3. For now it has been published on Arxiv and cited by 27 independent scientific works. We strongly believe that the academic publishing model is broken and would like to work on an alternative that properly compensates reviewers and is healthier for scientists, and why not propose it on-chain , and our papers could serve as a first example of open / uncensorable review. A bit like researchhub but censorship-resistant
  4. When it comes to frontend hosting, yes and we crush the competition, how cna offer lifetime storage on a pay once model ? plus if you’re not happy with the service you get your money back
